DYING FOR LOVE

To Die For, starring Nicole Kidman, features a woman who convinces three teenagers to kill her husband. Note the similarities with the television films Stay the Night and Murder in New Hampshire, both based on true stories.

Murder in New Hampshire

To Die For. Based on the novel by Joyce Maynard. A satire of the television business. Compare with Broadcast News, Switching Channels (itself a remake of His Girl Friday, which is a remake of The Front Page) and  Network. Other movies about the media include Wag the Dog, Mad City, Roxie Hart, All the President's Men, Absence of Malice, The Mean Season, and Call Northside 777.

Other themes for study are the issues of cameras in the courtroom and pretrial publicity. See for example the trials of Robert and Jeff Dingham, accused of killing their parents (see also the trials of Lyle and Eric Menendez.)
